The feature I didn't expect to love: plants have moods.
Each channel reads its own soil and shows how it's doing — thriving, content, thirsty, parched. Not a gimmick: the mood is driven by calibrated data, never an invented percentage.
Turns out a little personality makes you actually care about the dashboard.

Lesson from building Sprout: the percentage was a guess.
Cheap soil sensors output raw ADC counts. Mapping that to a clean “83%” looks trustworthy — and isn't. I switched to raw values + 7 calibrated bands, and the watering got dramatically more reliable.

The seedling sits inside the inscribed circle, so a circular crop (Google · GitHub · social) only ever loses the corner ground. Reads down to ~40px.
Built for wide cover bands (Hackaday.io and the like). The surface re-crops it background-size:cover, centered, so the signature — edge seedlings, full-width moisture trace, seven-band hairline — lives in the vertical-center safe band, and the center stays dark for an overlaid name + summary. (The LinkedIn banner above is a different crop, 1584 × 396.)
